"Intimate couples have lower stress hormone levels" - This is published in the journal Psychosomatic Medicine as result of a new study conducted at the University of Zurich, Switzerland. The saliva of about 51 couples (mostly married) was examined for one week to determine the level of cortisol (also called as stress hormone, secreted by adrenal glands).
It is found that couples who were very closer physically (such as kissing, cuddling, holding hands and sexual intercourse) had lower levels of stress hormones as compared with the couples who did not. Even, couples who had higher stress related to their work also showed decrease in their cortisol levels if they are physically more intimate (and there lies the justification for IT culture).
Lead researcher and author Dr. Beate Ditzen says, "Intimacy seems to boost the mood and thereby reduce stress levels. Also, couples should not race to express more intimacy, but rather find things to do together". Am feeling the same. Try it!
Very Sorry, if you are unmarried - Hope that I am NOT misleading.
